Homemade orange soda
This is my adaption on Glen and Friends Cooking’s Orange Soda Recipe (https://youtu.be/dZ9BAX6ld0c).
I substituted in lemon juice as I dont have any citric acid.
Because of the sugar content and citric acid from the lemons this should keep for a good few months (that won’t be a problem because it is so delicious ;-) )
Ingredients
5 Oranges (450ml of juice)
3 Lemons
250 grams of sugar
500 ml of water
Method
Zest two of the oranges into a heatproof container or pan
Juice all the orange and all the lemons into the heat proof container
Add the sugar to the heatproof container
Pour over 500ml of boiling water (or add the water and bring to the boil and then take off the heat)
Stir until all the sugar has dissolved
Leave to cool
Pour into your bottle and seal
Serving
Fill a glass 1 quarter full with the syrup and top up with chilled soda water.
Enjoy
Equipment
1 pan
A juicer big enough for oranges or grapefruit (https://amzn.to/2YPEIfb I use this one)
A clean sterile bottle (I used a thorougly cleaned and sterilised screw top wine bottle)
